History

Keepers of Tradition: Qutbi Brothers are Inheritors of over 750 years old qawwali tradition of India that has developed and grew over several generations by great masters in the Indian music scene. Besides, Qutbi Brothers are the darbari qawwals (court singers) at the mausoleum (sufi shrine or dargah) of Hazrat Qutbuddin Bakhtiyar Kaki (RA) at Mehrauli, Delhi, where they have been given the eponymous prestige of calling themselves as “Qutbi Brothers”. Having a great lineage of hundreds of years of great stalwarts, many of whom were great classical singers of India apart from being qawwalis singers.  They are famous for their distinct singing style, aastana gayki, contemporary, as well as modern qawwalis. Qutbi Brothers have an equal command over tradition. They have sung and composed the mystic verses of poets and saints such as Amir Khusrau, Rumi, Bulleh Shah, Kabir, among others revered Sufi-saints as well as the contemporary and Modern qawwali and sufi kalaams. 

Achievements

Qutbi Brothers started music singing at a very early age and today they are the most sought qawwali singers in India. Qutbi Brothers have earned the Top Grade level of artistry, as recognized by All India Radio (Akashwani).  Qutbi Brothers are the world’s first qawwali singers to set a ”World Record” in the history of qawwali music for non-stop 12 hours qawwali singing on stage on 12th November 2016 at the Sangeet Natak Akademi (Delhi). They are well-respected to get featured in the ‘‘Limca Book of Records’’ for their exceptional art and contributions and preserving and promoting the qawwali music. Moreover, Qutbi Brothers are also Empaneled having an Outstanding category at the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and the Ministry of Culture (Government of India).

Qutbi Brothers have enthralled audiences not only in India but also in abroad and successfully toured 50+ countries Including, UK, France, Singapore, Kuwait, Tanzania, UAE, Maldives, South Africa, Russia, Sri Lanka, and Kenya, among others.

In their career spanning across several decades, they have enraptured audiences all over the world in several prestigious nationals and international festivals such as, Commonwealth Games in India, Jashn-e-Rekhta, Arth – culture festival, Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (Mumbai), Jahan-e-Khusro, Qutub Festival, NCPA Mumbai, Jaipur Literature Festival, Rajasthan Cultural Festival, Sanskruti Arts Festival (Mumbai), Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat, Sikkim 2020, Gurgaon Utsav, International Sufi Festival, Urdu Heritage Festival, Patna Maner Sufi Mahotsav, Jashn-e-Qawwali Festival, among others.

Their stage performances include the most illustrious national as well as international platforms. Qutbi Brothers have mesmerized audience globally and collaborated with the world’s iconic venues and cultural centers including, Esplanade Concert Hall (Singapore). Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (Mumbai), Fort Jesus (Kenya), National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA), Yarmouk Cultural Centre (Kuwait), Fort Jesus (Kenya) & many more. Qutbi Brothers have been fortunate to perform for 2 most beloved former Presidents of India, first when they performed for “Jahan e Khusro” festival in the august presence of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam at Humayun Tomb in Delhi and they performed twice for Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma at the prestigious Rashtrapati Bhawan. They even several times gave their mesmerizing performances at the Parliament House of India.

Awards and Recognitions 

For their work and contribution to qawwali field, Haji Idris Qutbi (Qutbi Brothers) have received several awards such as Genius Indian Achiever’s Award (For their world record contribution), Special Prize from Parliament House (India), Atal Bihari Award 2019, Rajiv Gandhi Award, Ghulam Mustafa Khan Award 2020 (India Meri Jaan Orginazation), among others.

Social Works

Along with live singing, Qutbi Brothers are associated with various social works. They perform live for various social causes to raise funds. In 2018 they performed for a fundraiser event for the unprivileged children organized by Salaam Baalak Trust. They recently performed in Gujrat at a fundraiser to support 40 CRPF Braveheart’s Families of Pulwama Terror Attack.

Filmography and Albums

Qutbi Brother’s voice has graced musical events and platforms in India and around the world. Qutubi Brothers have also sung qawwali ‘Mere Maula’’ in a Bollywood movie ‘Room’ The: Mystery’. Their famous qawwalis and Sufi songs have been recorded and released by the most famous music companies like, Zee Music Comp, T-series Venus, Max, Qutub Audio and among others. Qutbi Brother’s latest soulful song ‘Piya Bin’ was released with India’s prestigious music label Zee Music Company.  The song has been highly appreciated across the country.
